Hi!

I am still basciallynew to the area, and a tremendous library-lover! Unfortunately, when I went to go visit the West Palm Beach Library and noticed that it was located at CityPlace and how incredibly difficult it was to find a nearby parking space and/or go into a parking lot, pay for parking, etc., I just basically gave up. That being said, I was curious if anyone knows if this library is on a network system with other libraries in Southern Florida, so that I can find a library that is a little bit easier to access?

Thanks in advance for your help, and by the way, is anyone else as frustrated as I am with the lack of easy access to CityPlace? I realize that this is downtown, but this type of parking situation led to the downfall of an entire shopping center in an area I used to live in up North, where people just finally gave up and decided to park at the mall instead????

Thanks again!

Might want to try the Palm Beach County library system: Palm Beach County Library System Home Page

The main library is on Summit Blvd. in suburban West Palm Beach and there are plenty of branches throughout the county.

As far as parking goes for the West Palm Beach library, they just opened up a new garage just west of the library across the tracks. FYI, City Center (library and city governmental center) are not in City Place, just within the downtown entertainment district.

Secodn above... you can find branches of the PBC library system, which won't be in an urban setting.

The West Palm Beach library is in City Center, which is technically not Cityplace, but part of the Clematis Street District. It is attached to a parking garage accessible on Clematis and Banyan. If you bring your parking chip into the library, you will get free parking.

I think Cityplace is very accessible. Three parking garages, and free metered parking on Sundays! Personally, I wish more urban areas would take advantage of garage parking. Parking lots are environmentally unfriendly wastes of space IMO.

Smile Thanks so much!

Thanks for the advice and info! I was able to find a branch on Okee that worked very well for me! I guess I'm more of a country bumpkin than an urban chick! I will be sure to eventually check out the one near CityPlace at some point, especially knowing that Sundays are free!

Best wishes!

Go to the branch on Summit next to the Post Office - it is free parking and the people are there to assist in a heart beat.
