Hello!

We're moving to Delray beach next year...probably in the summer after selling our house in NJ. We were wondering how we should go about renting an apt/condo near the beach for a year.
We're coming down this January to look at properties. What is the best way to do this since it is quite possible that the same properties for rent now will not be available in the summer? Do we contact a realtor now or should we just go into the properties ourselves and talk to the management about a yearly rental in the summer?

Thanks!!

You are coming down in January to look for a rental in the summer? Just trying to clarify your question.
Inventory changes, you will probably see more options come summer than you will in January.
I would say get an idea of where you want to be and contact a realtor in summer to take you around.

thanks, skyline...we want to be in downtown delray...we know there are going to be different apts then...should we visit apts in January just to see what the buildings look like, such as amenities, rules, etc? should we just contact the realtors listing them and go see them?

well if you contact realtors in January looking to rent in the Summer they may not be in any rush to show them to you since they probably won't have the unit in the summer if someone rents it long term.
Are you coming back down in summer for a week or so before you find a place?
You should be able to get a good idea of what complex you want to be in January though. If it's actually a rental from the complex you will be able to see a few units.

thanks again. How comfortable are you with rentals in Delray? Would you be available to help us if we wanted to check out some units in January? Can you give me your contact info--email?

I agree about looking at different areas and complexes you think may interest you in Jan. You would not get the same unit obviously but something else may come avaliable at the time you need. Summer is a good time to get better rates as well. Do you think you want to rent a condo, apt,or house?
