Drive through any area and look for burglar bars, chain link fences(in the front yard), razor wire, grafitti, trash in the street, loitering people, and you should be able to distinguish the "bad" areas. If not, BUY THERE.

Took the words right out of my mouth.

I forgot where I heard it, but I heard it is going to become an IKEA. Could have just been a rumor though.
I went shopping here once or twice and it was pretty sad to see. You could tell it was a nice mall at one point.

It was actually a decent mall just 8 years ago or so.

I hold out hope for an IKEA, though I heard the city couldn't make the deal happen. Now I would like to see an outlet mall on the site, since it's a perfect halfway point between Sawgrass and Vero Beach.

I regularly check the following blog, which has updates on the mall:

Default Palm Beach Mall Area

Its been awhile since the last post. UPDATE: As of the end of January 2010, the entire mall will be closed with the exception of JC Penney (which has its own exterior access) and the Firestone store in the parking lot. Sears was already scheduled to bail out before the big announcement.

The property was going to be cleared and built as a mixed us project, but the economy is still putting a damper on that.
