If the educated black population is a major criteria, never leave Atlanta.

You answered your question with your first post you have more cons listed for Florida then Atlanta so just move to Atlanta.

If Florida is that bad I fail to see why it was even an option?

There still are good parts of Fl and SE FL. I would not recommend Miami, Ft Lauderdale and basically anywhere south of WPB. The acreage and RPB and Wellington is nice tho.

I would also NOT recommend Orlando or Tampa, just in case you were to inquire.

If you are looking for a large group of middle-upper class blacks, stick with Atlanta and vacation in south florida. Trust me, you will not like living here if that is a huge factor.

Well the pros for Florida in your list did not look as enticing as the Atlanta pros. If it was me just going by your list I would pick Atlanta however I like Florida better, whatever you choose good luck.

My husband's job depends largely on the automotive industry. We live in SF (wellington) and he travels up and down the southeastern coast for work. His business is thriving....even in the bad economy. There is lots of opportunity down here. We have only lived here for a little over a year, but we love it. There chance to hit the beach, or your pool, year round is great. I miss the seasons, but the winters here are awesome. The current market for housing here would give you LOADS of great options around 500K. Beautiful homes that just a year ago were closer to a million. I have family in Atlanta and we considered there, but we felt too landlocked. (my hubby grew up on the water) Lake Lanier just didn't cut it. BUt Atlanta has a lot to offer, too. Good luck.
