If you want to transfer to FAU, try to get into the Honors College at FAU, which is on the Jupiter campus. It's a liberal arts program with a rigorous curriculum and staff of professors that come from many "top schools" in the country, like Stanford, Berkely, UVA, Harvard, etc.

Overall, UCF may indeed be "better" than FAU, but do an analysis of the specific department, program and faculty that you are interested in and possibly also where you may want to live in future. There was a thread several months ago in which some people offered a brief analysis of several departments at FAU.

Jupiter may be a bit far if the focus of your life is family in the Fort Lauderdale area. Do not underestimate the value of local contacts and obviously you value family life as well.

All the best!
