Spent 27 years in PB county and just moved to Chicago. I just felt so out of place as a young professional in a retiree dominated demographic. The comments about recovering addicts and most kids living at home are spot on by the way. If you're dead set on it however, how about Jupiter by FAU campus, Downtown Clematis area or Delray?

I heard newer buildings in downtown Fort Lauderdale are mostly occupied by younger crowd. But that is little bit south of Palm beach...

As did we, we are both Gen X though and felt this way since we moved to FL in our 20's, left for San Diego a few years ago. Not sure how people fresh out of college, unless they are in a small handful of professions that pay well, can survive in SoFla period. Rent for a 1 bedroom Apartment in a nice area, starting at $1,400 a month and up and jobs that pay poor wages.

The economy there is all Baby Boomer/Service driven and will be for the forseeable future as the next wave of retirees will be making their way south over the next 10 to 20 years. This will drive up the cost of housing, put a strain on resources and traffic and make it even more difficult for many who do not have deep pockets or lucked out and found one of the few professions there that pay a liveable wage.

This article was from 2015, not so dated in respect to what will become of the area in due time.

Default Palm Beach County - for Youngins...

njforlife92 If I was young again, I would look into the "City Place" area of West Palm Beach. You are in between Boca Raton, Delray Beach and the PB Gardens area. You could easily get to any of these spots by hopping onto I-95. There are lots of things for you to do there...I have had lots of folks in your age range ask me for rentals down there.
