I saw this on America most wanted and was completey appalled at this monster's violent acts that were committed against women and their children at Town center mall in Boca Raton. Im in NJ and wondering if these acts of violence are common in BocaRaton/Deerfiedl beach/Ft LAuderadle Miami areas? It is such a tradgedey what this piece of garbage did to these people. Im going down to Deerfiedl beach to vacation and was wondering what this area is really like is it that unsafe its not even worth to vacation in this area??

No, they haven't caught the guy. Crime is like any big city. Tourists come down and let their guard down, thinking it is some kind of tropical paradise. It tropical, but it is like any metro area in the US. Use the same precautions you would use in any big city.

Most areas are fine, just stay out of the bad areas. The reason the Boca killings got such airplay is precisely because they were unusual for the area.

No, it's not common at all. This creep also had a very specific target; black SUV, those sporty European shoes, and children. Seemed more like a phsyco than a thug. Only thing I have heard around Dade/Broward malls has been car burglars, and at that it's either morons leaving their doors unlocked or leaving GPS systems in clear sight (like other major metropolitan areas that's what the burglars are into nowadays). I suppose auto theft isn't unheard of, but uncommon. I have actually heard about less robbery/carjacking incidents around our malls than in other large metropolitan areas. Not sure about Palm Beach County where Boca is but I know some of their other malls are declining, but not Boca, this is very rare there. Like any other major metropolitan area, stay aware of your surroundings and you will be fine.

Unfortunately I hear about more violence and shootings in Palm Beach County Malls than Broward and Dade now. Just go to the non-high class, average malls where average people live (Boynton Beach, Palm Beach Mall) and you'll see how much they've declined through the years.

No they didn't catch anyone, they found some of the victims belongings in Miami Dade though. They have not found any of the missing belongings from the Gorenberg murder which took place before the last.

It's not just South Florida, watch the news, college students in Alabama and North Carolina both murdered recently.

Watching Nancy Grace on CNN and you wonder what the world is coming to.

The biggest differences between these occurrences in North Carolina and Florida are that people (tourists, snowbirds, etc.) come to Florida to get away from these issues. If a tourist is not going to feel safe to spend their thousands of dollars in Florida for vacations, and/or business, they will simply stop coming and/or spend it somewhere else. Too many segments of Florida are beginning to appear like Jamaica... wealthy near the beaches, poverty on the outskirts. These events are happening far too frequently in the Florida areas that families wish to visit.

How about the Floridians that go to North Carolina to get away from these issues? It can always be spun a different direction. I have read your posts and it sounds like you are the only one who ever though of Florida as being some kind of Utopian paradise, and you seem to be disappointed that it too comes with a set of huge problems. What you describe is also happening all over the country...but Palm Beach County (where Boca is) has been like that for years, it's not "starting" to, and only Dade County has a similar "hollow middle". You are also completely off topic because if you knew anything about this case, the guy is a nutcase targeting a specific type of person, not a thug looking for money, and thus wealth distribution has nothing to do with this disgusting incident that occurred.

I thought that the news said that the victims were taken to an ATM and the bas-trd withdrew money. Then he killed them. Horrible. I guess he wanted to be rewarded for his dirty deed!

The Florida economy has been/is/will be built upon tourism. Please look at the posts... the ongoing number one reason for moving, or just visiting here, is the climate. Disney does not hurt the tourism either, but the surge in crime in Orlando may. You seem to suggest that this is an isolated and rare instance that is happening throughout the country. I contend that this crime in Florida is an ongoing indication of how widespread and serious crime is becoming in your beautiful state. Like so many who buried their collective heads in the sand when the preliminary signs were in place of a projected housing bubble, the sand is in your eyes when it comes to seeing the implications/indications/potential effects of the surge of crime throughout the entire state of Florida. Not searching for Utopia... just a WPB that is safe, regardless of the street I drive upon.
