This is a family member that works in the west coast (Sarasota, Bradenton area )
His name is Mickey McMahon 941-704-1484 maybe he can point you in the right direction.
RE/MAX Platinum Realty-RE/MAX Platinum Realty. Search Every Home in Sarasota and Manatee Counties
Good luck. You have to feel happy whereever you end up. Some areas on the SE coast are still nice. The west coast is nice too. You just have to do your research and visit the area that you are interested in, no matter where that may be.

You know it's funny to me....I've heard several people both in real life and online mention they are afraid to drive in south FL.... I never was, but after hearing it so many times... I'm beginning to winder why..? I mean, I went o FAU in Boca, so I know Boca pretty well and if you're not on 95-- what's so difficult to drive? I don't get it.... It's like every road is north, south, east, west.... It's not confusing and the traffic outside of peak times is not bad....what gives?

Its not the traffic, its the people who believe they are above the law and don't follow any of them.

Marble Cake, I live in a retirement community in Gulfport, Florida called Town Shores. About 1,700 one and two bedroom condo units. It's right on Boca Ciega Bay, about three miles from the gulf. I'm looking to move to southeast Florida because it is too laid back here. No traffic, no congestion, no crowds. But what goes with that is a lack of culture and things to do.

Ironic that we're switching places for opposite reasons! (Full disclosure: sometimes the traffic backs up during rush hour on the interstate on the way to or from Tampa, but overall, it's nothing like other cities.)

Marblecake,

Also consider Hobe Sound, Stuart or Port St. Lucie in Martin County. Less expensive than Palm Beach County and the driving is a lot easier. You can ask some specific questions in the Martin County section. Good luck!

In Hobe Sound, there are lots of mobile homes in Heritage Ridge South and they have a very active community. There are homes in Sugar Pines and Sea Pines that are 55+. They are smaller communities with a pool and small clubhouse.

I have heard that King's Isle and Cascades in Port St. Lucie are very active communities.

well, where in Boca? The traffic doesn't seem THAT bad unless you're on Glades Road or downtown at rush hour. But then I'm from Chicago...

Still, I'm not sure you'd find it all that much better in the Tampa/Clearwater area if traffic is your concern.

Have you thought about Leesburg, Ocala Top of the World, the Villages, et?
