Moving to West Palm Beach ... (Jupiter, Wellington: crime rates, safe area, university)

Hello,

My fiance and I will be moving to West Palm within the next month. I'll be working at Northwood University, and have been trying to do some research on the surrounding areas for places to live. We are pretty young (26 and 27), and would like to be around a younger crowd with stuff to do. However, we aren't super thrilled about living in downtown WPB due to the high crime rates. I'd like to be within a 15 minute drive to work, and hopefully somewhat close to the beach as well. Unfortunately our price cap is probably around 1300 per month, so our options may be limited. I really like the palm beach gardens are, but it seems a bit pricey. I would appreciate any and all suggestions. Thank you!!!

You may need to look in areas more than 15 min from Northwood. Jupiter may be a good fit, in particular the Abacoa community. Not that familiar with West Palm, but may be check out Wellington as well. Palm Beach Gardens is nice, but you are right…..prices tend to be higher. Hope this helps a little.

Nothing good or safe at the $800 price point. You will need to spend 1000-1300 minimum.

Jupiter/PBG is going to be expensive.

AltaCongress in Delray is pretty nice and new and full of young professionals. You could take the trirail to WPB (it's right across the street) but I don't know how you'd get to NWU as I forget where that is ;(

You'd be close to the beach from there as well. Delray has free trolley service to the downtown/beach from there.
