My 85 year-old mom moved in with us this year. She previously lived in Kentucky. Her KY driver's license expired this month and she doesn't have a passport. She wants to fly to NY to spend some time with my sister. But she needs a picture ID to board the plane. So we decided to get her a FL ID card. But how do we prove her residency? The mortgage and bills are in my name of course. FL requires 2 documents proving she lives here. I have no idea how to prove this. Can anyone help?

Thanks,

Bob

Bring your mother's social secutiy card and at least 2 pieces of mail addressed to your mother.

I brought something from the IRS sent to me at my FL address and then brought proof of insurance mailed to me by my insurance company.... I know ur mother probably doesn't have any type of insurance tho.

Hmmmm. I would call the DMV and explain to them the situation and see what they say. I'm sure it's fairly common for people to do this.

Why not use the expired KY DL to get a KY non-driver ID card?

This link gives the documents needed. A birth certificate and SS card prove her identity and citizenship, and then her bank statement and a letter from Social Security mailed to her current address to prove where she lives.

But that's the problem. She has nothing mailed here. My sister in Ohio is power of attorney and takes care of all her bills, social security check, etc. So all SS stuff is mailed to my sister in Ohio. My mom still gets around so so, but can't take care of money matters anymore. So I have nothing to prove she lives here.

Someone mentioned getting her expired KY license renewed. I may have to do that. Problem is that I have to take her back to KY to do that. They require the person to come in for that. I was hoping to avoid that.
