Hello everybody, I am a native South Floridian and I have spent my first 27 years in Broward but I am looking to move on up to Palm Beach with my wife and 2 dogs.

I am looking for a landlord / realtor who can get me into a Single Family Home that will be ok with my 2 Pit Mixes, I am president of Redemption Rescue, we are a Advocacy group for Pit Bulls and responsible ownership of the breed. My dogs are trained, spayed and up to date on all their vaccines.

I do understand that it is not always a personal preference not to allow the breed but more a legal one because of current insurance laws. I am willing to sign on the lease that the dogs are something else to release the owner of any liability.

We would prefer a smaller house, like the 2/2's that are out there with a decent back yard for the dogs. We would even be willing to pay to fence it if it doesn't have one. We are on a budget and would love to be in the $1,100 range, we have found several homes in Waterchase (Boynton) area and around Southern for this price in good neighborhoods but nothing certain with the dogs.

Please let me know if you can help or know anybody that might be able to help.

Thank You!
-Adam

I have a pit mix and know that if I were to ever sell and try to rent, it might be difficult to find a place!

With respect to insurance, any future landlord can also have an animal liability exclusion added to their policy, or you can see if you can find a renters insurance policy that would include animal liability, to assuage any future landlord's worries about liability.

Your best bet would be to focus on non-HOA neighborhoods. Good luck!

If your dogs are mixes, why are you calling them pit bulls or pit mix? Why not lab mix? (or whatever they are mixed with).

Boxus - I have considered that but they still have the Pit look so it would only be a mater of time before the owner sees them and unfortunately in today's world a Lab/Pit mix is a Pit.

I am sure I could lie or bend the truth and get them in but I don't want to always be worried when I am walking them that the owner of the house will see and not care what they are mixed with.

My dogs are good, trained and CGC certified. It's sad that I could have 3 hell raising kids or a couple of nasty dogs that aren't Pits and it would be easy to find a place.

So far my choices are stay where I'm at in Broward or move into a apartment community in Palm Beach Gardens that allows them but has multiple law suits for mold.

I think it is time for some job hunting in the Orlando area, South Florida just isn't what it was 25 years ago.
