I'm getting real close to house hunting and both Jupiter and Boca Raton sure sound like what I'm looking for if I can afford it. Thing is I'd rather ride a bicycle than hop in a car for anything under a 20mi round-trip. I'm not one of those guys in tights on a $3000 race bike. I'm the guy w/ a gut on a 25yr old Mountain bike - wobbly rear wheel, t-shirt, jeans and maybe topping out at 13mph w/ a good tailwind.

So naturally I can see riding to the beach frequently if possible. Do sidewalks line the streets, enough so a guy on the way West side of town can reach the beach w/o riding on the street? Or do you think the side-streets are safe enough for me? You know, maybe having to deal w/ 15-20 cars on a 10mi ride, or the ability to jump up to a sidewalk on the side-streets?

If the above sounds like an impossibility/suicide, what is access like when you have to park a car along the beach? Does it cost money and how hard is it to find a parking spot during the week/weekends?

I can tell you that A1A (coast road) in jupiter and in Boca/Delray have alot of bikers on the side of the road. As far as biking to that road from the west I really have no idea. Have you looked at any houses in Jupiter? Riding from Abocoa to the ocean would be a good track. Anyways below is a forum for a jupiter bike shop. Might help you out more.

I'm still trying to narrow down towns to house hunt in, have never stepped foot in Jupiter. I'm really only familiar w/ the Gulf side of Florida, other than a few day-visits to places like Daytona, Orlando and Cape Canaveral.

Boca and Jupiter are at the top of my list, still researching Venice, Estero, Sarasota and Naples.

Thanks much for the bike link, consider it bookmarked.
