I just like early/warm springs. After a cold winter (which I don't really mind), I want warm weather to come as soon as possible. A couple of years ago (I think it was 2007) we had a very cold drizzly April. We didn't break the 60F barrier until maybe last week of April IIRC. I hated it. This year's April is so much better.
Yes April 2007 was a very cold month. Wish that happend more often!
Well, I see there are many people out there that seem to be enjoying the warmer than normal spring so far. What a difference a year makes: Last year, 2009 …most stations from the Plains right to the East Coast…had near record cool/cloudy April to July with alot of rain: Summer 2009 ended up being the fourth coolest summer in 100 years in many stations in the Eastern USA - Including NYC:
From what I can see on the NWS Upton page…NYC might well make the record…it seems just too far above the old record, and there is only 6 days left till month’s end. I see that a lot of stations are running 8 to 10 F above normal from the Plains to the East Coast in the USA.
For some reason…only if to balance out last year…I too see a searing hot summer ahead, and semi-drought conditions. I guess we’ll see.
In NE Ohio we had five days that set record high temps for April with most of the other days of the month being above normal.
Mother Nature must be having hot flashes.
NYC average for the month as of and including the 29th was 57.6, well above the "record" of 56.9.
Today is supposed to be above average (average for April 30 is 57), so the record is going to be shattered!
Before you cry "global warming", if you go on the NYC NWS website and see the top ten for each calendar month, you'll see that for March 1945 and 1946 (the warmest and 2nd warmest) have averages far above the third thru 10th place finishers.
The temperature fluctuations across the country have been wild this month. It has STILL not hit 90 degrees in Tucson (we've hit 89 twice), but yet New York saw 92 degrees almost 3 weeks ago.
Last week Tucson recorded a record low high temperature with 58 degrees on the 22nd.

What's the average low for 4/30? I know the average high is around 70 and we already passed that.
