It's ashame they eliminated the Blizzard Watches.. Big Mistake. People see Winter Storm Watch and don't think anything of it. If they saw Blizzard Watch they know its possible and likely to prepare more. Now they have to wait for a Blizzard Warning and sometimes that doesn't happen until 6hrs before.
BRING IT BACK! There would be Blizzard Watches all over the area today

CAM. Now with the changes,, the Climate Change cheer leaders can say ' See we don't have Blizzards and freezing rain any more proof you CC deniers are wrong.'
Also the remote automated recording stations are being done away with .Hense the colder weather stations will not be included in averaging data ,warming Climate.
Well, add this too. Less warnings will be issued...maybe a bad idea for the south?
Previously they had a 2 tier criteria. 2+ inches in 12 hours, or 3+ inches in 24 hours. The NWS just completely revamped its Winter Storm Warning criteria nationally

Old: 2+ inches in 12 hours
New: 2+ inches in 48 hours
Doesn't that mean the new system will allow for more warnings?
