I just read an article in the Washington Post about how DST "reduces crime" and should be extended year-round, because fewer crimes take place in daylight. They sure didn't give consideration to those who are tired of dark mornings...ugh.
They tried winter DST in 1974 - it was a unmitigated disaster. The extension of DST in the spring from 2007 onward has been proven to cause a spike in accidents and mishaps from sleepy people at work. If we're to do DST, let's stick with how it was done in the old days - late April to late October. That was the best way to do it - give light to those summer evenings while preserving precious morning light in winter.
If they ever extend DST year-round, I'm gonna be majorly ticked off - especially when I'm having to deal with those horrid 8:43 am sunrises in winter. Perhaps Georgia would be smart enough to banish DST for good like they did in WWII - it ain't too popular down here, that's for sure.
Yeah, you hear a lotta beef about DST in Indiana - it really screws them over too. Especially now, when the mornings are even darker than they are here.
Just think, a lot of people are at work a half hour to an hour even before the sun thinks about coming up. DST sure is good for coffee companies, though...lol.

Why? Why? Why? What is the issue with an 8am sunrise? Is an 8am sunrise honestly that late that it is going to have a detrimental effect on you're health?
I don't see anything wrong with it. Members have been moaning about 7am sunrises for the past few days on DST, please try 7am sunrises on standard time.
I have calculated sunrise times for the lower 48 through winter (with dst) and the latest sunrise time is a mere 9am! Yes, you could say that a 9am sunrise is not feasible but I am certain that adjustments could be made.
If somewhere is on dst for 8 months of the year, then what is the point in changing to standard time for 4 months? It is pointless.

Some want DST all year here but we'd have 9:25 am sunrises in December. Yikes.
Entire Indiana should move to Chicago timezone - And better ditch DST as well!

I agree, Indiana and Michigan (at least the northern part) should move to CST, however in doing so, they should stay on permanent dst.
