I think it'll be similar to the last one, a mixed bag. Overall it was a little milder than normal with below normal snowfall, but we had an extreme cold snap in January, temperatures were below freezing for about a week (). Snowfall is an impossible call to make, all it takes is one storm to make a significant difference, a single storm can drop a year's worth of snow.
Prepared for the worst (cold and extra snowy) but hoping for the best (mild and dry).
December -> Well above average
January -> Above average
February -> Below average
First ice day: 22 November
White Christmas: no
Cold New Year: no
Permanent snowpack: 5 January - late March
Gulf of Finland frozen: 1 February - late March
Very hot and dry winter...Its November now and tomorrow we will have some rain ..but its still 28C I didn't saw lower than 25 during the day for a long time its only 18-20C during the night ...its really hot winter(even than usually )the whole country is still dry...usually we have during this time of year 22-24C and sometimes even 21(brrr....haha) and like 16C at night and some rains but this year...since September I barely saw some rain!
(i'll make some average temperature and precipitation guesses for my nearest meteorological station)
dec: 2.2C
precip: 89mm
(worthless mild winter-month with plenty of cold rain. three days of lying snow.)
jan: 3.1C
precip: 71mm
(from bad to horrible. one of the top 3-5 mildest january months ever. no days of lying snow. one occasion of sleet that dont stick to the ground)
feb: -0.2C
precip: 57mm
(a month split in half. a very mild start is followed by a slightly colder than normal second half. 11 days of lying snow. max snowdepth 12cm. overall a pretty ****ty winter-month.)
winter grade overall: somewhere inbetween catastophic/very bad
and here's the 1982-2013 normal from the nearby meterological station
