It's almost as warm as that way up here. It's 29 right now and the sun is shining. But we've been blessed so far this year and I hope it continues. I could almost tolerate this.
Scattered flurries are possible throughout the day across North Texas today -- but that's a yearly ordeal up there.

Here the temp is 59, sunny, and windy -- but the winds will die down tonight leaving the road open for strong radiational cooling. Lows tonight around 30, or even the upper 20s north of town.

Aside for another cool day in the 60s tomorrow, we will warm up into the 70s the rest of the week with the next cold front coming in next weekend.

-----------

How about that first winter storm from Missouri - New England ?? Any posters in that area wanna share their experiences?

We've had ice and/or snow every year since I moved back to the DFW area in 2000...it's not a freak thing because the area sees about two 'winter events' (large or small) every year.

And it's grey and cloudy and COLD...wind blowing hard with the wind chill in the low 20s at times...few flurries around but not much...low to mid 20s tonight in my area. This will be the first freeze for Dallas County even though all the other surrounding metro counties have had a few freezes already...4 freezes already here in Denton, I believe.

Woke up this morning to a chilly 40* at 7:00am. Wore a light jacket. Took it off later because it was 72* where in went in Century City. Now it's 61 back at my house and I'm cold.

12 degrees and the pressure is falling ahead of tomorrows Nor'easter here in Bath, ME. We are expected to get another 4-8" on top of the 9" of frozen accumulation. The snow is supposed to be mixed with freezing rain in the p.m. tomorrow with strong winds, but hopefully we won't lose power and will be able to watch the games(Go Pats!!).

I've seen summer days with a HIGH of 54 F, (12 C) under dark overcast skies. Compared to that, that's not too disgusting IMHO...

Is there any sunshine? At least it's warm enough that if you wear black clothing and stay out in the sun you might feel warm.

Another thing I like to do when it's cool with sunshine is instead of staying indoors where it's barely warm (if at all), or outdoors where it's even chillier is to relax in sun-heated parked cars. Do you have a nice car with great seats? Do they recline? Keep the windows rolled up and lean back. Pop in some tunes if you want.

This September I did that on a disturbingly cool 17 C (63 F) and partly cloudy afternoon. Indoors I was not warm at all. Still hanging on to my summertime wardrobe of shorts, a t-shirt and bare feet, my toes were freezing in our house! Our house had stayed at 78-80 F all summer long... But this week it was only 73 F (23 C) inside and my parents WOULD NOT turn on the heat. So I remembered how cars get hot in the sun and thought I'd give our minivan a try...

I'm glad I did.

It was a lovely, toasty 107 F (42 C) inside our minivan (I had an old pool-thermometer in the cab) and I was "Jamming" to the tunes of Bob Marley a full 35 minutes before I even broke a sweat.

*I can't do that now...
No matter how much sun we get the car can't get hot when it's less than 50 F (10 C) outside.
But at least it sounds plenty warm enough to make hot cars in Melbourne.
