Nope, at least not in the big cities.

To me "true summer weather", (weather you don't want it or need it to be warmer) is when it averages at least 85 F (30 C) for the afternoon high.

Almost none of the big cities in Australia have any months averaging above 85 F. Places like Sydney, Canberra (the capitol) and Melbourne don't have nice long summers with averages less than 80 F (27 C), but just get spells of heat.

The "hottest" cities don't get hot summers, but nice warm summers. (according to the averages) Places like Perth, Brisbane and possibly Adelaide barely get "real summers." (according to the averages I've seen) I think Perth's hottest about 90 F, Brisbane about 85 F, Adelaide roughly 90 F... maybe high 80's.

However, most Australian cities, perhaps excluding Melbourne (extreme south) and Canberra (southeast, higher altitude) have all-time record highs at or above 40 C (105 F). In fact, many cities have records at or above 43 C (110 F) So in most of Australia it CAN be sizzling, depending on what day.

*I used to think a Great Lakes summer was near-perfect, but the first time I experienced summer in South Carolina with 14 days straight of 94 F (34 C) it spoiled me. I lost almost all interest in summers you can't depend on warmth; summers with periods you might want long sleeves or a sweater, even if only in the evening, at night or early morning.

Oh, by the way, the current temperature is -9 C or 16 F.

Our high was -6 C (21 F) and our low is forecast at -12 C. (12 F)

It didn't snow today and the sun came out so it was a little nicer working outside than yesterday.

Yesterday high of -5 C or 23 F, but constantly falling, or should I say blowing-sideways, light flurries. Those flurries helped make the wind feel a little colder, at least on my uncovered face.

Quite a change!

I'm not doing too bad, at least I'm being paid to be cold now.

"Winter-Wonderland" conditions up here; light snow roughly 5-7" deep most places, the skies have cleared a bit, minimal breezes...
I'm warm inside my rental-cottage room where my fancy alarm clock tells me it's a lovely 77 F.

(I have control of my own heater and I cranked it up as high as it'd go )

Record high in Melbourne is 45.6ºC

Today is actually warm, about 33ºC at 2:00pm. Won't last though, with extremely cold weather for most of the next 7 days

more like a week or more of 20 degrees and showers.

Not good enough.

Melbourne doesn't have "real" summers. At least in Sydney its humid so at night it stays around 20 even on relatively cool days

Anyway, today will end up being the warmest day of this month.

This record cold will continue for the forseeable future. No heat forecast for the remainder of the month

Sab, I had to check my trusty conversion site to see what your record high was. It's 114F. That is nice and toasty.
