It's supposed to be hot, humid and dry.

In all the years I've lived here (MD), I don't think I've seen this much rain in summer. It's going to rain all week and the week after, according to the weather forecast!
What's going on??

Where in MD are you?

Here is the forecast for Philly for this week. Very typical summer forecast.

Not sure where you are exactly, but Baltimore has 3.2 inches of rain on average in June, and 10.8 days of rain (>0.01in).

It's not supposed to be dry. Precipitation is fairly evenly spread out throughout the year. June has featured above average precipitation for the northeast.

You have a chance of thunderstorms every day. That doesn't mean it will rain every day or even most days.

I thought regular summer rain was a given on the East Coast. Don't summer thunderstorms happened almost every day in the Southeastern U.S. and at least twice a week in the Northeastern U.S.?

What's really unusual is the the SF Bay area which is normally BONE dry in summer, is expected to get 1-3 inches of rain over the next 3 days. Now that's almost unheard of in late June. I'm looking forward to it!

It's mainly Florida and the Gulf Coast that has near daily thunderstorms from the land/sea contrast. We average around 9-10 days of precipitation / month, not all of it is in thunderstorms in the summer. Here's a map of thunderstorm frequency:

What interests me is that it will give water to vegetation that normally turns brown. Are the grasses and plants mostly brown there already? Perhaps the rainstorm will be enough to give you a much greener summer than usual.

It's been an abnormally dry winter and spring so everything was brown by mid April (they normally don't turn brown until mid to late May). I'm hoping that we get enough rain to turn the hills green again.
