I wonder if drought conditions have an effect on dew points? I’ve heard that dry conditions mean that conditions won’t be AS humid as in normal or above average precipitation, but I’ve always wondered if there was any truth to this.

Not a chance. Not for FL anyways as at the surface it is humid and nasty while aloft the upper levels are much more dry.

I did read a study on that once. I never found a result from past weather having an effect on a current or future effect from a pattern. Meaning... you could be in a drought but if you get a southerly flow from the gulf dews will be high anyway. But the study showed that a dry ground WILL have some effect on surface air dewpoints.

Just like corn crops add to humidity...a dry ground should lessen it. But not for long. After couple days and some rain its done

Today will make 11 days in a row with 70+ dews .

Longest streak for July since 2013.

Ironically having the warmest summer since 2013

that was the year we had an insane 31 days in a row with 70+ dews

77° Danbury, CT and Cape May, NJ.
76° at Bridgeport & NE Philly.

Down here it’s one of the least humid days we’ve had in a while. Dewpoint down to 61F now as of 3 PM!

That’s surprising. Even up here dew point is 66. But it should go down to 60 by tomorrow and into the 50’s for rest of the week. Of course, the temperature is only in the 70’s so it doesn’t feel too hot.
The northeast should see a rapid drop in humidity once the hurricane passes. The low temps are around 60, so dews will certainly be lower than that.

Yeah, very high dews today. It's been hovering around 77-78 all day.

Completely overcast skies with temperatures in the low 80s and humidity around 90% since the morning.

Very rare to see overcast and 80s. Without sun, it is actually quite tolerable.

It's not the highest of the year because we did hit 79 dews a couple weeks ago.
