Would it be possible for that high pressure system so stick around longer than 7 days? Just park there, build up and get stronger and last for weeks. Kinda a look an eastern American version of the Russian 2010 heat wave. Or was the circulation patttern so out of whack it was bound to get cleared out within a week?
Cold front has slowed down again because of that ridge. (Powerful!). Last week models had the front coming through on Friday.
Now its moving slower than even thought yesterday.
Geez. Down here it's a dew point of 69°F, but I'm a ways inland compared to you, so the humidity would be a bit lower here.
Yup, your "average" might be lower than mine but the past month has proved how crazy its been that even inland sections are in the upper 60s. I've been mostly in the 70s but I dont tolerate any dewpoints above 62F well. But this past month hasnt been Ordinary.
Graph of the DP's from my Weather Station since June 20th. Been hitting 70s for 3+ weeks with no prolonged breaks. "usually" we get a break where the max is in the 60s at least.. not this year...
Here too, on hot days, it's quite common to see the dewpoint drop in the afternoon and bounce back right after the peak temps are reached.
I spent a couple days on the Med coast and noticed that the windshield was getting wet outside near where the AC blasts cool air (outside dewpoint around 70°F). At some point the driver had to wipe the windshield to get the dew out of there. Once one gets a few kilometers inland, it dries instantly. I hadn't really noticed it here on humid days since my car isn't equipped with AC.
I bet driving thru DC in these 79°F dewpoints, the windshield would be dripping with dew.
Btw air temp of 81°F, dew of 64°F here at 10 am.
Ok... I'm gonna ask.... Do you guys think or know if Connecitcut is the furthest north that dewpoints get and stay so tropical in the summer???? Seems like this is the end of the line for being in the Tropics.
My dewpoint is now 73.7°F!! On a day we were supposed to be in the 60s.
