Did the temps drop into the 30s all over the south? Doubt it.
That's why I never understood those who said temps usually touch the dew points over night. I don't see that happening except nei's location. lol and few others.
Dewpoint 23°F here. Low of 30°F so far. Might dip to 28 or 29 before sun up..

What were the wind speeds there? Only way for temps to drop to the dewpoint is for calm winds overnight.
Cooling to the dewpoint means the max radiational cooling possible happened overnight. Though the dewpoint dropped overnight... Chicopee reading 24°F with a dewpoint of 23°F. APRSWXNET stations closer reported a low of 26°F with a dewpoint of 25°F.

They were calm to light (under 6mph) overnight down there but that was the entire South that was in the 30s. I think you found a special select few spots where it does meet. Like I said, I never really heard of that being a factor until you mentioned it. Close yes but not something I hear talked about. Sounded weird to be honest. lol Dews are usually lower in my findings.
Don't know if this happens to people here but, whenever there is a cold snap where the dew points drop into 30s and 40s after months of 60s and 70s, I always get a bloody nose. Doesn't last that long, maybe 2-3 days, but it's pretty pronounced. Well worth it though; I'd take subzero dews over sup-60 dews any day of the week.
