was quite colder than usual, and with all the snow about average in precipitation. It takes a lot of snow to add up to a lot precipitation, so snowy months can still be dry months.
I think most winters we get a good deal of rain but this one was almost all snow (except in February).
Anyway, hope the spring is early and warm to compensate.
It was a great winter with the nearly continuous snow and cold. Still large areas of snowcover here in NW New Jersey in the higher elevations, but I wouldn't be surprised if today's warmth and tomorrow's rain storm wipes most of it out.
This winter compensated for last year's awful spring and summer, IMO.
What is so odd this year, my sister has had barely ankle deep snow in her yard this year and for over a month mine was at least 18"! She is 180 miles north of me. They call it the banana belt of the UP.
It doesn't show on this map but when I enlarge it at NOAA I can see the light colored area along the top of Lake Michigan. Me, I'm on the bump out just south of Door Peninsula and we got hammered this year. I'm thinking Spring!
so 3 inches of rain isn't enough to melt our snowpack. Rain's about done, snow still there in mostly places, though there are bare spots now, especially near houses.
