DH and I are moving to Bremerton with our two kids (5 and 2). We need solid schools, small class sizes and reasonable home prices. We can spend up to $1800 a month on rent. We have no plans to buy as we won't be in the area more than 3 years or so. Can anyone recommend a nice community between Bremerton and Olympia that would suit our needs? Also, has the narrow's bridge construction improved traffic delays at all?

If you like a more 'country' feeling then you can live in Port Orchard. You are limited on your shopping and closeness to any Malls. Gig Harbor is closer to amenities but the price to live there is a little higher. You will also be in Pierce county vice Kitsap county in Gig Harbor which will bring higher taxes. Port Orchard will be in South Kitsap school district. Within the district there is one high school and two middle schools. So you can choose a location based on which elementary school you want to send you kids too. Mullinex elementary looks good and I've heard good things about Colby elementary.
