Wow - beautiful as usual, Lamplight. You're certainly in a beautiful area of the country!

Even after four years I'm continually amazed by the beauty of this place.

Even after four years I'm continually amazed by the beauty of this place.

Yeah, my wife and I are in SW Kansas and this place can't hold a candle to the raw, rugged, gorgeous beauty of the Pacific Northwest. Kansas has a certain solitude in certain areas that I like, for instance, we live in Dodge City, KS. Today we drove south 20 miles to a town of 790 people called Minneola, KS. We parked the Kia Soul and just walked around the town. You know, I just loved the peace and solitude of this little town. We are about halfway through a 6-month lease in our Dodge City apartment and I'm wondering how a 20-mile each way commute back and forth to work would do me.

It's the peacefulness. Now, Kansas can get windy and it can have tornado's, yes it sure can. I also find the people here to be straightforward and genuine, such as is how I have heard people from the Midwest can be. I really sort of like their gait and manner over here.

So I'm not unhappy over here in Kansas at all. Natural beauty-wise it just can not hold a candle to western Washington, though. Not even close.

It's been a while since I went to Whatcom Falls Park, but the fall colors made it especially nice today.

Looked like it was raining before you took them - they're great. My favorite is the last one with the reddish leaves taking up a third of the pic. Beautiful!

Thanks! The first seven were taken very early on Saturday morning, and it was very wet. The rest were taken yesterday and it was relatively dry.

A little drive this morning. I have a feeling our fall colors have peaked.

Drove into the mountains today, stopping at Silver Lake along the way. My friend and I also did some hiking in the snow, which was quite a workout with no snowshoes! Totally worth it, though.
