He then closed small business, leaving big business to reap all the profits from the pandemic!!!

Schools are still not open, against all known science at this point in time.

I don't know how this phase will turn out, BUT his metrics, arbitrary or not, they were a measure of how we were doing. He shut down Whitman and a couple of rural counties based on his metrics.

When his metrics showed that King and Snohomish needed to be closed. He refused.

Everybody is ready to go back to work. However, this "might" be a critical time, particularly in King and Snohomish counties to shut down for two weeks.

We will find out soon enough.

This is not management of a emergency.
You have a warped perspective on things despite the warped information we're given in the first place.

Lots of "freedom fighters" aka Republicans and libertarians out in Eastern WA. You really think all those Red counties would have put up with a travel ban? Don't blow off this question.. answer it: Do you think Red counties would ever put up with a travel ban?

NO WAY!!! So stop making sound like Inslee is the bad guy based on this alone...

You talk about "big businesses" that made all the profit while little ones had to close... why do you think that is? BECAUSE OF THE INTERNET. Target, Amazon, all the grocery stores... pretty much any company offering basics with a good tech infrastructure made it through... little mom and pop boutiques selling experiences or trendy clothing (when you no longer have a reason to wear trendy clothing).. yup, those are the businesses that failed in my neighborhood.

If you are so afraid of the spread of Covid then why would you want schools to be reopen, but for counties to close for two weeks?

The metrics are arbitrary. They always were. What has changed is that enough people are vaccinated and enough people are feeling comfortable with reopening society. People that in February didn't want schools to reopen and thus didn't get their kids on the list to attend in-person learning are now upset with their decision in early May as they watch those of us send our kids to school without negative consequence.

The media and so called experts are also misleading the public. These are two articles from the same day with entirely different messages. There are many people who don't want this pandemic to end because they have no social life, they have a secure job from home and they could wear a mask 24/7 and feel like heroes who are saving the world. They like their "new" normal which is pretty much the same as their regular life.

Were you living in Washington state last spring??

Yes, the "RED" counties ASKED Governor Inslee to enforce his travel ban.
The six counties around King and Snohomish counties ASKED THE GOVERNOR DIRECTLY. At that time, the virus was limited to King and Snohomish counties. HE REFUSED TO ENFORCE HIS OWN ORDER.

I called the Governor's office and spoke to a staffer for 45 minutes and was told that Inslee was NOT GOING TO ENFORCE THE ORDER.

People in Okanogan County were furious at the Governor for not enforcing his OWN ORDER. Worse yet, by definition, Highway 20 is a non-essential highway. The Governor HAD WADOT plow open the highway like it was a normal year!! All he had to do was let the snow melt off the highway naturally. HE REFUSED and PLOWED IT.

After Inslee refused to enforce his OWN ORDER. Chelan County went ahead and banned vacation rentals and other lodging under their control. But Chelan County could not close Highway 2 and 97, only Inslee could do that. HE REFUSED.

The ban went on for six weeks, but the second home owners kept driving over two or three times a week from Puget Sound to their vacation homes in Chelan County spreading the virus. I asked my "coastie" neighbors "what part of no essential travel do you not understand"? The reply was Inslee is not enforcing the order.

So the virus spread into eastern Washington.

All non-essential businesses like furniture stores and bookstores were closed. EXCEPT if you were Costco, Target, or Wal-Mart you could continue to sell furniture and books. How does a small business compete with that???

I am not afraid of Covid. BUT pandemics are serious. We need to manage them at the FRONT END.

Education is serious. We need to insure that poor, and disadvantaged students are NOT deprived of an education.

Business is serious. It pays for all government services. Washington state has exempted the large corporations from paying taxes. Since small business pays more in taxes than corporations in Washington state we need to insure that they remain viable through a pandemic.

I spent 35 years in emergency management work. It is a balancing act between public safety and health, with schools and business kept functioning if possible.

Inslee has mismanged the pandemic response. We will see how the fourth wave goes. He might get lucky, having blown 1, 2, and 3.

Even mild covid cases give you immunity that could also last a lifetime. Nobody is talking about this though.

Good news: Mild COVID-19 induces lasting antibody protection

That would be great, but there’s still mixed results on studies.

You are right there has been a few cases of getting the C-19 virus twice...but it seems very rare. Maybe the first test was a false positive...who knows?

How could any study know that without living a live time?

Hard to talk about something that is an impossible to know at this time.
There even talk about having to update the Wuhan virus shot in the future. I guess we will know as time goes by.

If a republican says all evidence points to a lab...it’s far right wing conspiracy and the media claims it’s “debunked”, Twitter, YouTube, Facebook etc all coordinate to block it and suppress any discussion.

If Democrats say evidence points to a lab, now it’s ok to post on those same platforms that banned it. No one cares....

Any citizen, regardless of your political affiliation, should get deeply concerned when the media is overtly picking sides and narratives....because at some point it won’t be aligned with what you want and by then it’s too late.

That’s the same reason so many people don’t believe in masks or the vaccine...simply because of the continued media narrative and how it’s changed 180 since the election. The media has manipulated anything and everything to get what they wanted, and continue to do so while so many people are oblivious....

Preach it! We should ALL be concerned at this point.

WA State? Concerned?

May it never be.

COVID-19 cases surge 73% in Washington state
Washington ranked first among the states where coronavirus was spreading the fastest on a per-person basis, a USA TODAY Network analysis of Johns Hopkins University data shows. In the latest week coronavirus cases in the United States decreased 20.4% from the week before, with 140,886 cases reported. With 2.29% of the country's population, Washington had 5.93% of the country's cases in the last week. Across the country, five states had more cases in the latest week than they did in the week before.

Fortunately the requirements to report positives has been significantly curtailled. We should be able to get whatever numbers we target to be beneficial to the party in control
