The Frye Art Museum (free) - catch the #12 east on Marion St to Boren Ave on Madison St, walk three blocks south and one block west. Walk back Downown on Cherry St.

The International District - walk east on Jackson St to Fifth Ave. Places to visit: Wing Luke Museum of the Asian Pacific Experience, Seattle Pinball Museum, Kau Kau BBQ (!!!!), Harbor City Restaurant (Dim Sum), Uwajimaya Asian Supermarket (load up on snacks).
IIRC, I skipped the ID on the way in from SEATAC, then briefly walked around on the way out. I will hit it up just for food this time.

near downtown yes, but once you get to old town, it's a one long waterfront with piers, restaurants, hotels, parks, trails, beaches, all the way to point defiance, I would say that Tacoma's water front is as good as Seattle's if not better!

How could you miss the ID district if you stayed on 22nd & Yesler? The 27 bus takes you to 3 blocks from the ID district and the Link. The 14 Bus on Jackson, 3 blocks west of Yesler runs thru Little Saigon, ChinaTown, to the south end of the boardwalk-ferries?

If you like Chinese-Di Tai Fung as a second restaurant downtown shopping district at Pacific Place. Or a smaller venue at Dough Zone by ID Link Station. Mikes in Chinatown has a good chinese noodle breakfast.

I stayed on Terrace Street near 22nd. When I walked west I passed Seattle U. Is that Yesler?

Broadcast Coffee is on Yesler & 20th. # 27 bus will take you downtown. Or you get off at 14th and catch the Street car to Capitol Hill-Broadway or down the hill on Jackson to Little Saigon, Chinatown-ID. Use an Orca card to make the transition transfer seamless. I normally walk it in 20 minutes, leisurely. It's all downhill. I take the bus up the hill. I am a senior with a sore hip that gets aggravated on uphill steps.

From Broadcast coffee & 21,22,23 aves, walk South (Pratt community Park and Manual Arts complex) to Jackson, 3 blocks. Catch #14 bus which will take you directly to ID and then downtown.

Going west on Terrace/Jefferson, you would go up the hill to approx Swedish Medical/Broadcast towers/the Cathedral, then down the hill, then up the hill to First Hill. Then down again to the Sound and citycenter. My hips and legs hurt when I think about your walking these hills.
Yes, You did go by Seattle U.

Are you staying at the same place?

No, I'll be staying in Capitol Hill a few blocks northwest of the Link and Streetcar stations. Should work out pretty good. Today I was thinking maybe take the first Amtrak out one morning to Olympia, then take it to Tacoma, then go back to Seattle in the evening. That would be nearly %30 of the whole trip so I have to plan carefully. It's not looking good to go anywhere out of Seattle at this point. The mistake of going to Bellevue last trip looms large in my memory.

BTW,

I impulse-booked this whole trip just from watching "Kurt and Courtney" in my condo last week. The scene where he is driving into Seattle in the rain just made me miss the place so much. Also, I"ve never seen the PNW on anything but a hot sunny day. When I went to Portland in 2012 they had like record 95 degree heat. Needless to say, I am stoked to get an authentic Seattle experience in October. I want it to be as gloomy and rainy as possible, yes I'm serious.
