My wife and I are military and will be relocating from Ft Hood to Ft Lewis. I don't want to be a dead horse in regards to where to live. My Question is how is the job market. My wife is a Certified Paralegal. The pay in Killeen Ft Hood area is terrible! So were would be a good place to look for jobs. Were, looking a Puyallup, since we've heard so many good things about it. I guess my question is were would be a good place to live in relation to Ft Lewis, and her career field. It seems anywhere you live, you have to deal with the traffic. Any help would greatly appreciated.

Thanks in advanced.

I'm curious: what does being "a dead horse" mean?

Olympia is near Ft. Lewis and is the state capital, and therefore has quite a gaggle of legal firms. You might want to Google legal firm Olympia WA, or lawyers Olympia WA to start a list.

I don't know if I can help, but have recently moved to Olympia and am also a certified paralegal. I moved from Dallas, where the job market is very competitive in the legal field. It seems to be the case that if you have at least 5 to 10 years of experience, you can get a decent wage, and if you don't....you'll be working for less than $30,000 no matter where you are. The good thing is, she's married and has 2 incomes so that she can do that. Location doesn't mean a whole lot when it comes to experience. Also, there is something to be said that depending on where she was certified, or educated, her knowledge will be limited, unless she has federal experience, which will translate well. I have been told by headhunters here that the best I will be able to do at first is a file clerk, until I can prove I'm up to speed with Washington state laws and procedures. Good luck!

You sir, should be proud of your occupation. I served in Viet Nam, and through to Desert Storm. You are a proud soldier. I've been to Lewis. I have some good friends up there. We stand proud.
