I'm looking to get a little bit of information regarding Packwood, WA. We are moving back to Washington next January. Packwood was never even on our radar, in fact I have never been there before. I've covered a lot of ground in the Mt. Rainier area, but never been to Packwood.

Obviously, it is a small town. The reason, I would like to find out some info is a potential deal regarding a place with 2.5 acres, has come to my attention via my mother in laws co worker.

If we were to move there, which is most likely a long shot, but it never hurts to get more info...Employment is a big concern of mine. I assume there is not a ton of gainful employment to be had in a small town of that size. There seems to be plenty of seasonal work around the Mt. Rainier area, but that doesn't do much good in the off seasons.

What kind of businesses even exist in the area? Are there any full time jobs to be had at all, or is it basically all mom and pop stuff that's run by family and typically doesn't hire outside help? I really have no idea as to what the local economy is like. What about in other nearby towns? I'm not about to commute to Yakima, or into Olympia/Tacoma etc for work. So if there's no year round, full time work to be had in at least the nearby area, then this deal will probably hold zero merit.

Thanks for any replies.
