I just moved to DC and I've been working so many hours I'm both missing a workout and realize my social circle is pitiably small (one friend, who is leaving this month)

Do any DC residents have a recommendation for a gym that is in the Dupont/Foggy Bottom area and is a fairly social place? Thanks!

Sports Club LA is THE PLACE to be. At early a.m. hours and for sure, after work hours - are VERY social, very young and offer terrific classes in addition to great equipment. 1. YOU WILL get a much better "deal" if you have a member "take you in" or recommend you. If we can figure out how to make actual personal contact (my email is potterybuff ataoldotcom. I am not writing this in regular format so that it doesn't get edited out. DO stop by there (it's at the Ritz Carlton) and ask for a tour and their best-best deal. It might seem expensive, but I figure at 15 - 20 bucks per class that I am the winner. AND I love the steam, sauna and never having to buy my own razors again. I'm a little adicted to the cafe, too. RE: meeting people - they sometimes have mixers, but YOU be assertive and you'll meet gobs. Gals, guys and gays. Goodluck.

Finding a gym will also be pretty important to me if I make the move to DC. I'm a firefighter so fitness is a must. I looked at the website for The Sports Club LA and it looks awesome. Then I looked at some reviews and I noticed that many complained about the price increases and the management. Mind if I ask what you pay per month?
