I think DC gov has the exact same holidays/benefits as the Feds but it has been so mismanaged for decades that it has a bad rep. It's just starting to show some improvement but has a long way to go.
The other benefit with the federal government is that there may be an opportunity to move outside of the DC area, if that is something you are interested in. Whereas when you work for the DC government, you will have to remain in DC as long as you work there.

Yep, after you put in 1 year I believe you are eligible to apply as a 'status candidate' and apply for jobs all over the country and overseas not even available to the general public, one of the reasons i'm trying to get in the fed.
I am just asking out of curiousity. In general which job is better working for the DC government or working for a government agency in DC?
Definitely go for the feds. While I am in no way knocking the DC Governemt, you will have many more opportunities for advancement with the feds and there are plently of jobs in the DC region.
Why would you want to work for the DC government? Many of its agencies are notoriously corrupt, incompetent, or both. More than a few positions require DC residency, as well.
If you have a choice, always work for feds. The have excessive pay, no limitations on where you live, excessive retirement packages, small chance of layoffs (unless you strike like FAA union).... so yeah.
