Hello everyone, I've been looking for a place to move and recently found an apartment listing for the following neighborhood: 225 20th St. NE Washington, DC 20002. I haven't spent much time in this part of DC and wanted to know if it's considered one of the safer sections of the city? Thanks in advance.

Well, if you were to just ask the question "Where are the safe neighborhoods in DC", no, this area (on the border between Kingman Park and Stadium Armory) would not likely be on that list. But, that doesn't mean its a bad neighborhood.

Safety is very subjective, of course. And, though I haven't spent a ton of time over in Kingman Park/Stadium Armory, there is a lot of growth going on over there. And there are certainly worse neighborhoods. Whether or not you'd feel comfortable there will have a lot to do with what you're used to, how comfortable you are with general city living, etc.

A good mix between ghetto and safe, if that makes any sense.

Agreed with kln82, we're not sure what your safety level is (previous residence, dc experience, urban comfort, etc). I myself wouldn't be terribly thrilled about the neighborhood, safety-wise.

I'd rather be a little closer in towards the capitol.
