DC hostel feedback (violent crime, neighbourhood, safe)

i intend to visit DC in Late november for a holiday

Can someone with shed information about the hostel near Takoma station call
Hilltop Hostel?

Is the private room safe in put our belongings?
is the neighbourhood safe after i m back from my 3am party?

any feedback about the neighbourhood will be excellent?

Its an OK area not great depends where your soming from if its safe, Im preety sure youd be fine with your bags just lock the door. FYI I think yesturday 2 ppl got shot in the iHOP aorund there but othere thatn that violent crime isn that common around that part of the district probly because of how close it is to Montgomery county but still watch your back.
