Hi! My husband and I are relocating to the DC area soon. We are in our early 30's and looking for a suburban area that is fun, safe, and affordable. We have 2 dogs and we are looking to spend $1500.00 a month on rent. We are open to Maryland, not Virginia. He is a Registered Nurse, so any leads on good hospitals to work at would be fantastic too! Thanks!
Are you looking for a one bedroom or two bedroom apartment? $1,500 is pretty constraining in some areas for more than one bedroom, though not impossible.
How close do you want to be to DC? Germantown/Gaithersburg area has rents in your range, but I wouldn't call them "close" to DC, and i'm not sure i'd call that area "fun." It sounds like you'd be interested in an area similar to Bethesda/Rockville, which has more "fun" options, but also increased rents.
Lots of considerations to make when moving to the DC area. Maybe you can give us a few more details of what you want/require....whether you have kids (need schools)....commute vs public transport....etc.
57 single female looking to relocate, will be working at the VA Medical Center in DC., where is a safe and reasonable place to live, will be working 3rd shift, will probably not want to take the Metro, and is there a bus getting off the Metro 24 hours a day
Jstar, because of the extreme traffic congestion throughout the area (among the very worst in the nation), you need to identify exactly where your worksite is first of all, and then try to locate reasonably close to there - unless your shift is very late at night when traffic is light.
