How long would the driving commute be from North Arlington to National medical center? The hours would be ~7-8 am to the hospital and from 5-6 back to Arlington.

Thanks.

Where is "National Medical Center"? Bethesda?

Take the George Washington Parkway to I-495 N. Without traffic it's 35 minutes. With traffic add 10 minutes. I did this trip many times when my son was born there.

I work there now. Is there a reason you can't take the train? The metro is right across the street (literally). Otherwise you are looking at anywhere from 45mins (on a great day) to an hour if not more during those times.

The hospital has intergrated with Walter Reed, doubling its size and the amount of personnel pouring on to the campus. Plan to spend about 15-20 additional minutes walking from your car to your office. The campus is huge, parking is at a premium for employees and many of the available spaces are far away.

Seriously, take the train if you plan to work here at all. Its nice! You can read the paper.

Agreed with smoke. Take the train as it will reduce the stress of the commute.

I meant the childrens hospital. I think you may be referring to a different institution.

I think some of the above were referring to the Naval Medical Center or possibly even the National Institutes of Health, both in Bethesda. The Children's National Medical Center is in DC on North Michigan, near MedStar and the Veterans Medical Center, west of North Capitol. Not within walking distance of any Metro rail station, though if you went to the Fort Totten/Catholic University stop you should find a bus from there to the hospital (the public transportation option on Google Maps says the H3 bus is one). Check www.wmata.com. I can't understand why someone would add just 10 minutes to such a long commute during rush hour, though exactly where in "North Arlington" you are leaving from makes a difference in driving time, as well as the feasibility of taking Metro rail (e.g., are you near a Metro rail station?). Whether you're working or going there regularly for apppointments, the hospital should be able to give you info on transportation options.

That's why I asked. Anyways, I would guess somewhere between 40 and 90 minutes depending on the day. It could be even longer than that if traffic is really bad.
