Hello everyone,

I currently rent in Northern VA and am looking to buy in the next year. I am brand new to the area and have no idea what I am doing, but here are my thoughts so far:

- I work in downtown DC; my partner works in Bethesda. We're primarily looking at Maryland suburbs (which is why I posted on this board) but are not opposed to VA or DC if we could find something that fits our needs.
- We would like to live near (within a few miles at most) the WMATA as we only have one car and would prefer to keep it that way if at all possible. Ideally neither of our commutes would top over an hour.
- We are in our 30s
- No kids
- We have a dog and would like to get another one at some point.
- We'd like to live in a townhouse or a house between 1,200 - 1,800 sf with a yard for the aforementioned dog(s).

Budget: $500k

Thank you in advance.

The average price per square foot of housing in Rockville seems to be around $300. It ranges from $200-$400.

So, you will have a lot of flexibility in terms of what you're looking for there.
