Hello,

First I apologize if I posted this in wrong thread, looked for place to post this but didn't find one, mods can move it to where it belong.

As title says, I am fairly new to claiming unemployment, but new to situation like this with virus, I claimed it with return date to work and got a email from work say I need to extend return date, how do I do that? or do I reclaim the unemployment? or can I continue to claim it with current one - but I think current one is finished now because I put the return to work date as 4/6/20? I've called all the numbers I could find from searching web, all the numbers were giving me busy lines no matter what time I called past few days.

Thank you for your time.

That's the problem. Unemployment all over the place is swamped with calls. You will have to keep calling, or apply through the State Unemployment web site. Which might be having issues also.

Make sure you get that $1200 Check. Even people that have not filed a tax return in the last two years are now eligible.

I was shocked to find out you can get the maximum unemployment, which is $430 in Maryland, and $600 on top of that. An engineer I know just got laid off and found that's what he could get.

I have collected unemployment in the past, last time was 2006, and the max was $330 then.

You can email questions to ui.inquiry@maryland.gov to avoid busy signals and sitting on hold.
