The latest U.S. Census Bureau statistics have the proportion of non-Hispanic whites in Prince George's County at just 12.7% of the total county population.

Blacks are 64.6%. Asians are 4.6%. Hispanics or Latinos (any race) are 18.5%. Prince George's County is the least white (and most black) of the 23 counties (plus the District of Columbia) that make up the Washington, DC metropolitan area.

Are white people still leaving Prince George's County?

Are (non-Hispanic) white people moving into the county? If so, what is their "profile" (for lack of a better term) and where are they moving to within the county?

Anecdotal: seems stable. Not appreciably up or down.

I can't speak for the other parts of Prince George's County, but the Fort Washington area based on my personal observation (open to limited sampling bias, confirmation bias) seems to have a large uptick of white families moving in.

I would say it's leveled off a bit. Outside of the schools, this county is very much a steal for quality of life and COL in relation to other parts of the metro and state. Very good location as well.

I saw a white lady out walking her dogs this AM, didn't think nothing of it.

Yea well as long as they understand what they are moving into. We aren't doing that mute PG go go like they did to DC. Not trying to be over welcoming to these conservatives from Iowa or Wyoming with that midwest mind state etc.

This seems relevant, map shows that over 2000-2017 a couple pockets grew their white homebuyers, emphasis on homebuyers, not renters. Additionally, you've got nearly all of NE Washington increasing it's white home ownership which likely leaks into PG county on that border as well in Mt Rainier, Chillum, Brentwood, Hyattsville, Riverdale Park, College Park, etc. Those places are also obviously increasing their population in general with lots of high end apartments that won't show up in that map.

I'd say overall it's stable or increasing slightly. Might be decreasing slightly in some of the outside suburbs. Definitely increasing in inner ring suburbs like Hyattsville College Park and Cheverly.

These two images from this very site's mapping tool show the overall trends. Mostly stable, some areas with more pointed changes.

Anecdotally, I'm white, and my wife and I moved to PGC in the last few years. We know other families that have done the same, generally from either MoCo or NOVA. The general trend seems to be: don't want to be in your thirties and beyond living in a townhouse or apartment like a 20-something with shared walls and no yard, and not intimidated by the prospect of (bring the fainting couch!) black neighbors.

So based on that South Bowie is the only place in the country that's really experience white flight. Not surprised by that.
