Okay all of you vintage Marylanders, do any of you remember Jerry's Footlong Hot Dog Drive in restaurant ? I think it was blue and orange, and I can't find any reference to it online, nor any images. 1950's era. It was near Berk Motley's Rustic Cabins. I recall it had a place to order from the car with curb service. It was a great era for original eateries. They weren't all alike.

Default Jerry's hot dogs vs Topp's

Peggy Sue, can't say I've ever visited Jerry's foot longs. Not to put my foot in my mouth, but across the River in old Virginie we had a similar drive-thru eatery called Topp's. Though I was just a tyke then, I recall pulling up and parking at the squawk box, where you then folded down a laminated table with menu to eat your meal. Somebody said there were barhops on roller skates but again, I was still wearing short pants back then, a 4-year old passenger in the family pea-green '55 Ford station wagon.

I do remember Jerry's Famous Hot Dogs while employed in Cottage City, Maryland during 1959-1964. It was owned by Leonard Burch and his wife Alberta. The business was sold in 1972 to Wesley Turner and Charlotte his wife. Leonard and his wife retired to Naples, Florida after selling the business and they both lived there until they passed away in 2002.

There was another one at Peace Cross in Bladensburg.

I grew up in Colmar Manor, MD. Jerry's was the best! I miss a Jerry's chili and onion dog with a cold beer. That's living!

So many other businesses throughout Cottage City/Colmar Manor. Juels Exxon, Georges Liq, Berk Motley's, Surf Club, Angelo's, Romano's, Pincus Grill, etc.

Does anyone know if Wes' son Jimmy returned to California? He came out to help his mom and dad run Jerry's. Just wondering after it closed if Jimmy left the area. Thanks.

I would love to see pictures of Jerry’s hot dog stand. I just recently found my dads birth mother and she worked there. We passed by it today and it appears to be a Mexican restaurant. Any help! I’d love!
