I am thinking of moving to the DC area- Is it possible to get a small 1 bedroom apt in Rockville or College Park within walking distance to a metro station for 1000 a month? Thanks

Yes. Based on a recent discussion of the Bealls Grant Apartments in Rockville, they have 1 bedrooms from $884-1122. I was having a harder time with College Park, but there may be condos for rent from individual owners in that range. The University of Maryland also has listing services if you are a student.
