Hi,

I recently moved to Frederick; I work in Gaithersburg (off Exit 11). Does anyone have any recommendation for a better time to leave in the morning? I am leaving at 7AM and still the traffic is not smooth and after exit 18 it's hell! I have to admit I have done it just this week though. Any recommendations? Thanks

Try leaving at 6:00 or 6:30. That or after 9.

I left at 6:45 today and it's smooth all the way. May be traffic is smooth Friday morning anyway - I'll find out next week. Thanks

Early morning, 15 minutes makes difference. Friday is better, especially in the morning.

Friday always seem to be the best traffic day imo. I think a lot of people do the 4 day week (10 hrs per day) and many Gov't workers work from home on Fridays if they have the option. Plus people tend to take Friday off when they can. Leaving by 6:30 most mornings should be better too.

well after 3 weeks - It looks like Friday is always good but other days are not so or even close. I am already leaving at 6:30AM and even then it becomes slow something like 2 miles north of Rt80 and then stays that way til Rt109! Is that normal?

Yes, sadly...that's normal. Friday's are notoriously slower and summers are great! If you leave at 5:30 or 6, it'd be better (but not anymore fun)!
