If you don't like the stores then move to where you feel you're catered to. This was and still is a primarily rural area. The services have not decreased since you moved here and I assume you knew the "lacks" when you came. It should have been a factor in your decision.

Calvert County has an internal bus system running from the Beaches to Solomon's. The only option for you is the MTA buses which run from various points to Downtown. There may be Van Pool options, there used to be, but I haven't seen any on the road for several years. Car pooling, ask around at your work. There is no Metro or similar system in this relatively rural area as you probably noticed when you moved here.

Sadly, I know this post is a little outdated, but my family and I would like to take a day trip up there. We aren't much for fishing or boating, but love to beach comb, shop at antique stores, eat lots of seafood, and don't mind paying the "out of town" fees for use of the beach and the water park. We plan to drive up early on a Friday morning, stay all day and get a room at the chesapeake beach resort, drive back Saturday. I am not familiar with the area and will be driving to wherever we end up, but would like to know so great places to visit while we are there. We are simple and don't need extravagance, but the reviews for some of the restaurants aren't received very well. Any pointers on where to eat, where to beachcomb, where to spend the day? Any help would be appreciated
