Volvo markets these as Recharge variants of their vehicles and these now all have electric-only ranges that are actually useful. Also, like with EVs in general, the greater battery capacity that allowed for this greater electric-only range has also meant higher max output so the PHEVs are now the most powerful vehicles in Volvo's lineup and have a lot of oomph even when in electric-only mode. That larger capacity also means they now qualify for the full $7,500 federal tax credit
