What do you think of a CPO 2010 Jetta SE?

And, if you think it's a POS, what would recommend instead?

Around $20K or under, CPO, or even brand new, please.

No teensy cars. I gotta take my 2 kids everywhere.

VW's are not known to be very reliable so, IMO, I'd look at the usual midsize sedan suspects: Accord, Camry, Altima, Fusion, etc.

Yeah, I know, but none of them excite me, I'm sad to say.

Would a TDI (diesel) make a difference?

A VW will certainly keep you on your toes. It’s like a whirlwind romance complete with check engine lights, broken parts and big bills. A TDI will not make any difference, because usually the drivetrain will hold together, but the rest of the car just falls apart like wet cardboard. I’ve owned two late model VW’s and while I loved the styling the fell very short in the quality department. I got to know the parts guys very well with both of them.

So a lot like my old BMW 328?

Even with a complete bumper to bumper warranty, is it that big of a pain?

Ask yourself what your time is worth when you need to use that warranty.

I rather own a 13-year old 328is than a new VW with a bumper to bumper warranty, but I’m a former tech. With a VW it’s always some nagging issue.

Neither is sitting in the mechanic's 'lobby" with its well worned sofa and year-old Sports Illustrated magazines.

How about the Acura TSX or TL?
Infiniti G35?M35?
'09 or newer Nissan Maxima?

Dang, my old 328 ALWAYS had the check engine light on...one thing after another....

The main reason we sold it though was because we couldn't fit 2 car seats in the back and couldn't fit a stroller in the trunk.

But, I digress...

I wouldn't buy a 2012 Jetta but the 2010s seem really nice.

I'm not finding any CPO Acuras or Infinitis at $20K or below...

But I appreciate the suggestions.
