Can anyone point me in the right direction re neighborhoods/schools in Norfolk? My husband is considering a job @ the Eastern VA Graduate School of Medicine. We have a rising 7th grader and would like to find a great high school for her.

If you are looking for a great high school dont even bother moving to Norfolk.......Norfolk schools have always rated very low compared to the surrounding cities.....If you are looking for a highly rated high school plan to live either in Va Bch or Chesapeake

Wait. Maury is a good school even though there are a few knuckleheads there. Check out their list of graduates, many Ivy League schools and UVA, W&M. MAury is the district surrounding EVMS, so if you live near EVMS your child will go to Maury. I am a teacher in VB and know many students who go to Maury.

VB is good too, you can't go wrong with the better schools there.

Actually if you check with Norfolk public schools they will tell you that they have more problems at Maury then any other high school in Norfolk.
Maury is the only high school in Norfolk where 3 Police Officers are required to be present at the school during the day, all other high schools only require 1 Officer
