Hello all, my husband and I are retired and thinking of moving to Winchester VA very soon. The area that I am leaving in Maryland have many great senior programs. Our Community college sponsors many art, history, dance etc. classes and they are usually at Senior Centers around the area. Does Winchester have any reasonable priced senior classes, activities that I can get register for? Does Frederick County offer any services of this nature anywhere? Is there a place designated for seniors to get together and enjoy these activities, exchange books, get a hot lunch or just enjoy others company. Your help would be greatly appreicated.

I would strongly suggest you investigate further than just on here. (Maybe you are) Try the C of C for more info. Maybe even call them.

Well I just wanted to share with anyone interested in Senior Activities/Classes in Winchester, VA. A few examples of the activities I was looking for are Oil or Acrylic Painting classes, Pencil drawing classes, Yoga classes for Seniors’, Line Dancing for Seniors, Photo Taking classes etc. To my knowledge Shenandoah University does not support any Senior Classes of this type; Load Fairfax Community College also, does not support any reasonable Senior Classes. Winchester Parks and Recreation does not offer Senior Classes per say but, they do offer swimming and outdoor activities. I looked into the Godfrey Miller Historic Home Fellowship, and they do have a few social activities such as trips, luncheons etc. but no classes. The library offers a reading group. Chamber of Commerce has not called me back after I have left several messages. I am still looking and will continue to post in case there is someone else who would like this information.

Winchester is on our list of possible retirement places too, so I appreciate the update...downtown historic area seems pretty nice.
