Could anyone please tell me something about Norwich? Its natural setting and look (scenic value), level of education/school system, weather, people culture, etc. Thank you!

It has been years since I've been there. My impression was that it was dominated by the military school, had decent educational standards, right-leaning, but was depressing as H*** and isolated from the world, especially in winter.

Joe, you are right. Norwich (the town) was never mentioned where I grew up unless it was in conjunction with the 251 club or some geography quiz. Say Norwich anywhere in central Vermont and it is taken to mean the university and immediate surrounds. Odd, 'cause Queeche and Woodstock are well known, but Norwich might as well be off the map. (NO insult intended to residents, a quiet off-the-map town is something to be appreciated.)

I think Norwich is a great little town; the proximity to Dartmouth, the Connecticut River, Woodstock/Quechee, and everyday shopping in West Leb are all plusses. However it's also very expensive (property values and property tax rates) - you can get a lot of the same benefits by living in adjacent towns such as Thetford or Sharon or Wilder, or even Hartland or Windsor, at a lower cost.

As Sierrajeff said, Norwich is expensive homewise and property taxes are high, too.....
