Posting in this thread bc. technically it is a weather phenom.
Photo taken in Brattleboro VT at 3:15 p.m. on Sun. Jul. 24, 2016.

Between the top two lines/cables, believe it's a sun dog, rather than a rainbow-
because it was near the sun, in same part of sky (rather than opposite side) as sun,
overhead almost (instead of next to horizon), and there hadn't been any rain in past 12+ hrs.

Thought it was pretty neat-one can anticipate a rainbow, as in rain + sun = rainbow, however noticing this was sheer fluke/luck:

Those are some pretty crazy totals. I saw some reports about the storm, seemed intense. We had some nice thunderstorms here last Friday and Saturday, but definitely not that much rain.

How you been handling the heat Cambium???

I posted 9 more maps from yesterdays rain. The 8th image will show how Vermont missed out this time.

Thanks for asking. Well.. June was one of my favorite Junes I can remember. NW flows, dry, low humidity, and not many hot days.

July is irritating me. Hot and Humid.

1 more month then we can start getting those nicer nights at least and lesser 90s. My low has been in the 70s 5 mornings in a row now. That doesn't bother me as much as the humidity and 85+

Speaking of 85+... Here is the number of times this month so far we hit 85° or warmer.

Nice site, save link! Top # is the official one which includes all its locations

You guys ready for days of clouds, rains, storms, heat, humidty?

Do you see why the Tropical avenue is like that? High Pressure Position off the East coast.

Very Warm and Wet period although Northern Vermont could escape the brunt of it.

Thursday probably the worst day but at least you guys wont have this

My entire in-law family is coming to visit Thursday-Sunday, first time they've been here since we moved, and it's supposed to pour the entire time they are here.

Yesterday (Weds.) it *was* the humidity-air felt swampy, like soup or stew-yet the temps topped out around 80F (hardly a big deal in itself).
Everything was just yucky feeling, sticky-blech !

Today (Thurs.)-it's the heat, more than humidity (below 50%, though on the rise), near 90F (Brattleboro/Keene).
I see that next few days all have some percentage chance of 'heavy rain' so am glad to get stuff done ASAP & stay in this wknd.

Last summer was rather mild, at least we're getting a very definite summer this year.
Suppose after last year's incredibly mild & virtually snowless winter, we'll be back to "normal" winter (replete with blizzards) again this year.
I figure the extremes balance each other out in the aggregate/longer timeframe.
