I also found this on the History of Vergennes website.

Also, Samuel Strong a son of John Strong of Addison who in 1814 was commander of the Victorious Vermont ground forces at the battle of Plattsburgh settled in Vergennes in 1793. In 1796, he hired Leo J. Fields to build one of the most finest wood frame, Georgian Style Mansions in Vermont notable for its entry with pilasters, fanlight, and broken pediment and its central wall-dormer pediment with oval window. This house still stands today.

Default Vergennes--Samuel Strong mansion

Sorry, I didn't give the correct web address [url=http://www.cdi.uvm.edu]

If that doesn't work, cdi stands for "Center for Digital Initiatives", a department at the University of Vermont

It is the Wagstaff House - but it's not abandoned. It's owned by a gentleman named Rusten Swenson from Orwell, Vermont, I think. Anyway. he's had countless offers to sell and he won't. Thinks it's worth millions but truth is, it's an eyesore as is. Wish he'd at least clean up the yard!!!
