All,

For those folks who live in Vermont, My wife, daughter and I would like to take a week long vacation in Vermont and wondering where the best place to go would be.

We like to shop (window shop at malls mostly) I would like to get in a round of golf or two and we would like to relax at a nice hotel or B&B.

Please provide any information you can and what there is to do in vermont for a family of 3...by the way, my daughter is 23 so not looking for any kiddie things.

Thanks.

Well, there are only 5 enclosed malls in the entire state - we are very rural here.
That said, I would suggest staying in the Burlington area. We have 2 malls here and the Church Street Marketplace which is an outdoor "mall". Lots of great shops, restaurants, bars, etc. The Courtyard By Marriott is the newest place to stay in town. You are also 1.5 hours give or take to Montreal if you wan tto take a day trip.
Another suggestion would be to stay in Stowe. There are many places that offer golf & stay packages there. It's a ski resort town so there are lots of shops & restaurants, though no malls. Ben & Jerry's is just down the road and the Cold Hollow Cider Mill is a nice place to stock up on Vermont goodies.
Yet another suggestion would be Manchester, VT. Lots of golf in the area and the town is known for it's outlet shopping.

Definitely the Burlington area. There are plenty of beautiful golf courses, Lake Champlain and many beaches to take a dip. There are the malls vter mentioned, and great restaurants. Hope you enjoy your visit!

Burlington is a great place to start. Right on Lake Champlain with spectacular views of the Adirondack Mountains on the NY side and views of Mt Mansfield on the VT side.

Stowe Mountain Resort for skiing and tourism uses Mt Mansfield, and in the summer you can take a gondola ride partway up, or strap your cojones on and drive your car up Mountain Rd to the top. Bring a camera, unbelievable views. Make sure you have good brakes, because they won't be after you come down. It's worth it.

Ben and Jerrys is in Waterbury and has a tour through the plant. Good fun.

Shelburne Museum, south of Burlington, is worth a day.

Church St in Burlington is a charming outdoor mall. BUT...visit before the college students come back at the end of August.

There is a ferry at the end of College St that takes a 2 hour tour of Lake Champlain...it's great. ECHO Lake Aquarium and Science Center is right next to it.
